Discovered Attacks
A discovered attack occurs when moving a piece reveals an attack from another piece behind it. The moved piece can go make another threat while at the same time it uncovers the attack of a second piece, generally a bishop, rook, or queen. Discovered attacks are powerful tactical maneuvers as they often create multiple threats simultaneously, forcing the opponent into a difficult defensive position.
